Language: open to all

Description of the project:

Pergamino is a city of 110.000 inhabitants, it is located in the North of the province of Buenos Aires in a zone rich in agricultural production; 220km from the Capital city of Buenos Aires.

Since 1998, Ecoclub Pergamino has worked on actions to improve the quality of life in the town. The local youth group is made up of Children and Young people who act in a democratic manner and undertake different community actions with different institutions in the town.

This Work-camp, will be based on the restoration of an historical Water Tower in the town. We are looking to raise awareness in the community about the importance of use and consumption of Water; in addition to this we will improve the area next to the river in Pergamino, bringing out its natural values including that of the architecture and history of the Water Tower.

During the best part of the day, we will work on remodeling, reconstruction and painting of the Tower and also putting into condition of the grassy area which surrounds it. On some of these days the international volunteers will work together with local volunteers.

Free time activities:

The local volunteers will organize historical and cultural outings about the Town, and visits to Cattle Farms where the volunteers will have contact and interaction with the countryside of the Pampa. There will be no end to the discussions and rounds of maté (A typical Argentine herbal tea drink drank through a metal straw and shared with the group) from which the volunteers can profit!

Situation: Pergamino, North of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Participation fee: 150 euros.
