Local Community and project Description: Gudran association for Art and Development is a group of artists including painters , musicians , artists of theatre and cinema , who were motivated by what we can call “the social responsibility of the artist” to abandon the galleries and go out in the street to make a contact with the daily-lived reality. Those young artists, with a group of fishermen from El-Max region and surrounding as well as a group of interested in development field, all of them came to an agreement on using art as an introduction to development owing to its active and extending effect on individuals and society as well.
Gudran sees art as that neutral area which allows the existence of dialogue on different levels. So it tried hard to create a climate of dialogue that allows acceptance of the other, as a first stage to enable us to spread the culture of social peace, through artistic group work.
Work: The idea of this Work Camp is gathering young musicians coming from different cultural and musical backgrounds from different countries to work along with young Egyptian musicians. As they will use music and artistic practices as an introduction for intercultural dialogue and to over come cultural, ethnic, religious, and political differences. This will be through their interaction together and with the street, as they will use the public spaces a place for their artistic performances. This will be during a 2 weeks duration work camp in Alexandria Egypt.
Cultural program: The afternoon program will be full of cultural and Artistic activities.
Participation fee: 100 Euros
Number of Volunteers: 15 Local and international
Accommodation: the participants will be accommodated in a youth hostel in Alexandria
