Work: Volunteers will give their support to the Cooperative in the Campsite Le
Belvedere in Lastours, South-West of France, with a great view on the 4 castles
of Lastours. In this workcamp we propose to build beautiful, durable, long-lasting
natural structure. In this intensive workshop we’ll explore a lot of aspects of green
building
Our plan is to build a construction made by a mixture of lime, hemp fibers and
soil. The construction techniques is similar to “Kerterre” concept (mixture of
components between the wooden frames). Hemp fibers
are soaked in lime or soil and then placed one on the other
to build the walls. To keep correct alignment of the walls
hemp fibers will be placed between hemp ropes spaced
20 cm between each other.
Accommodation and Fee: Every participant will have to contribute with 80
euros as a participation fee. We will provide tents, shower and food. Please
bring your sleeping bag and towels. There is the possibility to share rooms in a
mobile home for 5 euros per night by booking it when you apply for the camp
Food: Food for volunteers will be provided during the whole period of stay.
However, they’ll have to cook their own meals together with other volunteers as
a part of the team.
