Project: The Garifuna Community of Cristales is located on the Atlantic coast of Honduras, home to more than 2,500 people, who are in a process of rescuing ethnic customs. They need to fix and redecorate their local community center, which is used for development of cultural and artistic activities of its habitants.
Work: Painted and overhaul center, design and construction of an attractive facade according to history and Garifuna culture, also participate in thematic video forums and discussions on issues of responsible sexual health, gender equality and human rights, which will be organized by the participants of the camp, together with the local youth and promote the proper use of the centre by community members.
Accommodation: All the participants will stay in the Dijepezca house, which is a special training house for fishermen, located in the Cristales Beach.
Language: the official languages will be English and Spanish. Additionally, volunteers will have the opportunity to learn the Garifuna language, spoken by the inhabitants of the community. Terminal: Golozon Airport in the city of La Ceiba. It is three (3) hours by bus from the city of Trujillo.
