Project : For the third year in a row, a group of volunteers will be hosted by the Sociocultural Center of Vergze. The center is highly active and provides many activities for the towns locals. The community is closely involved in this project and present on a daily basis to assure that it runs smoothly. Work: The volunteers will continue the restoration of a lime kiln begun in 2012.. You will take charge of a part of what has been previously constructed in order to strengthen or rebuild it. For the purpose of remaining loyal to tradition, tasks will be completed in a manner respecting traditional methods. A technical overseer will instruct and accompany the group throughout this project. Leisure activities: Through the project itself, but also through contact with locals, participants will have numerous opportunities to discover local life during this time of local festivals, including a votive celebration accompanied by bullfighting and a display of fireworks on July 14th. The surrounding area offers rich possibilities for outdoor activities: the beach, hiking, discovering the nearby Roman city of Nmes. The community organizes meet-ups between volunteers and locals, meetings which also benefit from the support of the Sociocultural center. Accommodation : A room in the Sociocultural center. A separate room will be available as a collective living space (dining, cooking, etc.) in this same center. Location : Vergze, small village of 4000 residents, and home to the sources of Perrier mineral water, is situated north of highway 113, close to the sea, on the Nmes-Montpellier railroad which links the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea and Spain to Paris.
