Project: Since 1960, the Neige & Merveilles association has been taking over and renovating the old buildings of the Vallauria Mining Works, creating a sustainable learning center and accommodations. After decades spent renovating and remodeling the old mining site alongside various specialists (geologists, mineralogists, archaeologists, speleologists), in 2009 the association turned its thoughts towards enhancing and capitalizing on this cultural heritage. The first step in this process was to carry out an inventory of the old mines and the of the current conditions of the site. The mining heritage of Vallauria is characterized by spectacular ancient underground mining works. The Vallauria Mining Works project embodies a desire to develop activities for the community within the framework of local sustainable development, while opening the site to a large public. Work: The activities (via-ferrata, assisted climbing routes, canyon climbing) etc. Accommodation: Indoors, six-person bedroom with bathrooms and showers. Bring a sleeping bag or bed linen. Catering: Volunteers are asked to lend a hand with clearing tables and waste in the dining rooms and with washing up, and they will help in the preparation of some meals.
