Workcamp with Jovenes Solidarios and Subir al Sur, August 2015
Subir al Sur:
The Subir al Sur program (part of SES Foundation) is a Non Governmental Organization which promotes peace and intercultural education through national and international voluntary service.
Subir al Sur organize short- and long term voluntary work and work camps which are focused on a particular subject. The work camps give the young participants an opportunity to share thoughts and experiences, learn from each other, compare and communicate.
Jóvenes Solidarios: The organization Jóvenes Solidarios is a Non Governmental Organization which creates activities and programs for teenagers to advance their participation and commitment concerning the society. One goal of the organization is it to get the youngsters used to the social indifference. Jóvenes Solidarios is a Latin American organization that strengths the spirit and philosophy of the paradigm of a good life (buen vivir) and social justice. Solidarity and companionship forms the base of its way of work to reach social subjects.
Description of work camp: The subject of this upcoming work camp is ‘Childrens Rights’. The work camp is responsible for promoting and disseminating the principals that defines the declaration of rights through activities such as playing, reading and participation across ages and cultures. Date: 10/08/2015 - 24/08/2015 Location: Barrio Centenario; Centro comunitario; R.Peña3285 (Mar del Plata) Participation fee: 210 euros in cash Includes: food, accomodation and material Not include: transport to Mar del Plata, gifts, and personal costs
Jovenes Solidarios work camp 2015
Activities in the work camp in general:
- Restoration of the local community center.
- Playing games with the neighborhood kids.
- Infrastructure in the neighborhood.
- Celebration of the ‘children’s day’ together with the neighborhood.
Other available activities/workshops that are open for participation:
- Visit the daily cultural activity workshops that take place once a week.
Ex. Football school, Murga(street musicians) and recycling workshops in cooperation with the university.
Activities concerning children’s rights (in connection with the general activities)
- Movie workshop about children’s rights  an opportunity to use creative skills in the making of a video about children’s rights. Bring ideas, knowledge on the subject, IT-experience etc. Nothing is fully determined yet.
- Meetings with other youngsters (locals and other volunteers), discussing children’s rights and subjects concerning social communities, the rights, plans of action etc.
- Meeting with governmental institutions and arenas that are linked to policies for children and children’s rights. (Minister of children and youth and Minister of work and labour)
