Under the supervision of your camp leader, you will stabilize the existing walls using traditional and ancient dry stone techniques. You will also work on the development of hiking trails around the site and set up road signs.
You will be accommodated in tents in the municipal house with access to toilets and showers. Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. Tents will be provided but you can bring your own if you want to. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader ad you will participate in the preparation of dishes using good products from the market and local producers.
Clermont-l’Herault is located in the Department of Hérault, 40km away from Montpellier, and only 50km away from the Mediterranean Sea. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful historic heritage (Castle of Guilhem, Collégiale Saint-Paul…) as well as beautiful landscapes (Lake of Saragou, Cirque of Mourèze…). You will be able to choose from a lot of different activities in your free time, such as hikes, water sports and swimming in the Gorges de l’Herault! For more information: http://www.ville-clermont-herault.fr/
For the work, please bring gardening gloves, working clothes and closed shoes. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag. Don’t forget sun protection (hat, glasses and sunscreen) and your swim suit! Some common activities can be organized if you want to, so please feel free to take something special from your home country with you (food, recipes, stories or dances)! European Union citizens must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
