You will start the reconstruction of two of the washhouse’s walls. First you will have to manually dismantle the walls. This first part is essential to ensure the wall’s stability. As for the reconstruction, you will use stones coated with lime according to traditional masonry techniques. There will be a second international workcamp next year to finish the washhouse’s renovation.
You will be accommodated in tents at the city stadium with all necessary facilities (bathrooms, kitchen…) at your disposal. Volunteers will be accommodated in pairs, boys and girls separately (bring your own sleeping bag). You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals as a group. A budget will be allocated to the camp leaders; volunteers will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, using healthy and local products when possible.
The village of Lamothe-Landerron is located between La Reole and Marmande, two cities in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Lamothe-Landerron is situated in a region rich in vineyards, orchards and ecclesiastical heritage. The village has lovely chapels and castles and provides ample opportunities for strolls in a green and peaceful environment.
Bring a warm sleeping bag, some work clothes, sports shoes, warm clothes and rain gear, a flashlight, a swimsuit and sunscreen. If you wish, you can bring musical instruments, recipes, games and/or specialties from your region or country.
Foreigners from European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). Everybody must, in any case, bring their health insurance certificate. If any health issues occur during the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
