You will pursue the restoration of the outer walls that has already started two years ago. You will reinforce the damaged parts using traditional masonry techniques and rebuild the destroyed parts to promote the preservation of the heritage and to perpetuate the history of the village. Please note that you will have to work on scaffoldings. For two years now, international volunteers have been working side by side with locals for the safeguard of the Priory. The community is working on this throughout the year to achieve this common purpose and they are looking forward to the experience with you this year!
You will have a basic roofed accommodation including a kitchen and a living room, inside the former cloister with a beautiful view on the landscape. You will have to contribute to collective tasks such as cleaning and preparing food. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals using healthy and local products of high quality. Many good times with the locals will happen during your stay.
Looking over Agen city and the Garonne river valley, the village of Moirax is located south-east of the Lot-et-Garonne county, 9 Km from the city of Agen. It benefits from the proximity to the city as well as the countryside. Its territory spreads until the hills of Gascogne region, on the left bank of the Garonne River, which forms the northern communal frontier.
Bring a warm sleeping bag and mat, working clothes and shoes, also clothing fit for colder and rainy weather, a flashlight as well as a bathing suit and sunscreen for swimming in pool in the afternoon.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them their personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
