Descripción:
The work consists of repairing and taking care of outdoor and hiking areas in Inari. The work varies from tidying campfire sites, marking hiking routes and repairing lean-to shelters, constructing reindeer gates etc. Evenings are free and on one day we make a trip to Inari village, Sami museum and centre as well as a cruise on Lake Inari to Ukonkivi, an ancient Sami site. It is also possible to participate to Inari Week program at own expense (www.inariviikot.fi/en/).
The accommodation will be organized in tents at a campfire site with lean-to shelters, a dry toilet and camp kitchen. Volunteers may bring own tents, if possible. The organizer offers one bigger tent and a sauna tent. It might also be possible to have a sauna 1-2 times nearby. The organizer will provide and prepare meals (breakfast, dinner and evening snack). Lunch will be packed to go to the work place by the volunteers. Special diets and allergies will be taken into account if possible, we need to be informed of these in advance. NOTICE: The camp is held in wilderness conditions, which means limited electricity and several kilometers to closest stores etc.
Inari is a small village in Finnish Lapland, but Finland s largest municipality. The closest bigger town is Ivalo. Closest railway station and airport are in Rovaniemi, where from there are daily connections by bus to Inari. The volunteers need to take a travel insurance for the duration of their stay.
