In order to revitalize the site, various actions and works are proposed to you:
1) You will be supervised by Compagnons du Devoir to restore small parts of the old dry stone village;
2) Experts in local flora and fauna will accompany you in your efforts around the protection of bees through planting fruit trees and small brushing works.
You will leave France having learnt a lot about local architectural and cultural heritage.
The first and the last night you will be accommodated in a hostel at Le Vernet, where you will share your room with another volunteer (2 single beds per room). The other nights you will sleep in tents (tipi), except for the 2 days’ hike during which you will sleep in a mountain shelter at 1800m of altitude. You will be part of a group of 11 volunteers, coming from all over the world. Meals will be taken on the workcamp. During the camp, volunteers will also be able to cook on their own and organize dinners together with the local community.
The villages of Prads-Haute-Bleone and Le Vernet have less than 200 inhabitants. They are nestled in the Haute-Provence Alps, at 1300m of altitude. Thanks to its exceptional landscapes, hiking and other outdoor sports are very popular in this region. It’s also very quiet, so you will be able to relax and calm down.
Two qualified sports educators accompany you throughout your camp; thematic hikes as well as moments of relaxation (meditation, massages) are offered.
Bring a warm sleeping bag, warm clothes (nights can be cold) and working clothes, solid shoes for the work and walking. Bring clothing suitable for outdoor activities, a swimsuit (shorts are not allowed in the swimming pool!), a hat, mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
If you want, you can also bring musical instruments, games, recipes, photos and/or specialties from your country or region.
The workcamp is located in a remote area, so the mobile networks such as 3-4G may not be always available.
