With a support of a specialist in traditional masonry, you will work on the restoration of a wall in the village using traditional lime plaster.
You will be accommodated in a dormitory (basic conditions) with camp beds in the community house. Sanitary facilities are nearby. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and from local producers.
The city of Ille sur Têt has a perfect and rare location for those who want to discover cultural heritage as well as a stunning environment. Located in French Catalonia, on the west-side of the Regional and Natural Park of the Pyrenees, you have the opportunity to go on beautiful hikes. In the north you can find the prehistoric site of Tautavel and the medieval castles of the Cathars. In the other direction, you can find the city of Perpignan (25km away) and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, from Barcarès to Collioure; you will also be only 40 mins away from the Spanish border. Close to Ille sur Têt a unique and exceptional landscape can be visited: Les Orgues d’Ille sur Têt.

For the work, please bring gardening gloves, working clothes and closed shoes. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag. Don’t forget sun protection (hat, glasses and sunscreen) and your swim suit! Some shared activities could be organized if you want, so please feel free to bring something special from your home country (food, recipes, stories or dances)! Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
