Project: Aix Island has been a loyal partner of Solidarits Jeunesses for many years and regularly hosts international workcamps. Groups of young volunteers have been involved in several projects including the restoration of Fort Lidot, a historically charges location representative of local French heritage. This year Fort Lidot will host an exhibition surrounding the theme of Fort Boyard, an old former prison located between Aix Island and Olron Island. Work: The volunteers will be involved in setting up this exhibition. An architect is working on the improvement of the site of the Fort Lidot. The volunteers will construct small stone fences, will improve the condition of the fort's woodwork, and will prepare different exhibition spaces. The aim of these alterations will be to recreate the environment of Fort Boyard inside that of Fort Lidot. The community wants this exhibition to be open to everyone, including those in wheelchairs and those with limited mobility. The volunteers will also take part in these improvements. Laisure activities: The volunteers will participate in intercultural activities with local schoolchildren. They will be able to take part in various activities proposed by local clubs, including fishing, tennis, sailing, and visiting the different museums of the island. The volunteers will take part in the community's music festival as well as many other local events. They will also be able to visit certain nearby towns, such as La Rochelle, Rochefort...
