Project: The Patrimoine et Tradition association managing this project is a non-profit association set up in 1995. Its aim is to safeguard and rehabilitate the cultural and architectural heritage of La Brigue, to develop site layouts and to organize and run cultural and artistic events. The restoration of the castle is the key feature of the associations work. Works: The works will concentrate on the east wall : clearance of weeds and brush from the site, finding and collecting of stones, removal of unstable stones and leveling screed, removal of vegetation, repointing of walls and reinforcement with mortar (work on secure scaffolding). You will be supervised by a heritage restoration professional. Learning and interest activities: The learning interest program mainly features a visit to the village of La Brigue and the Roya-Bvra valleys, awarded the land of art and history label by the French Ministry of Culture. Topics such as construction techniques, modern-day know-how and respect for heritage could be covered. Participation in festive events (traditional festivals) and sports activities (via ferrata assisted climbing routes or canyoning) will also be on offer to volunteers for this site. A learning facilitator will accompany the group throughout the stay. Accommodation: Inside a building, bedroom for six with sanitary facilities. Bring a sleeping bag or bed linen. Catering: The volunteers are asked to lend a hand with clearing away in the dining rooms and washing up, and help in the preparation of some meals.
