KOPENG PROJECT

Back ground:Our project will take place in Getasan Sub-district which is located the valley of Merbabu Mountain, an old passive volcano in Semarang, Central Java. The location in this village is fresh and quiet cold with a nice green and mountainous view around it, so it is suitable for doing workcamp in this site. Dejavato cooperates with the local people and local school there, which is, located in the middle of the village, Getasan 01 elementary school. In this recent year, the school has received about 180 students. In the avarage, they are from 6 – 12 years old. The students are divided into 6 grades. In which each grade, there are about 30. Those students are being assisted by 11 teachers and staffs. The staffs, students and also local people are very happy to welcome our volunteers since our first workcamp in 2010.
Work: the volunteer has task to teach in the local school in Getasan 01 elementary school. In the afternoon they will take part in planting and harvesting the plant based on the planting and harvesting time there.
Study theme: the volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the Javanese particularities. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.
Leisure time: during free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit the Kalipancur waterfall, taking part in helping local people to take fresh milk from the cow. You will also have a chance to do some sport activities with the local youths.

Accommodation: the volunteers will be accommodated in Indonesian host families (basic conditions, sleeping bag and mat needed) where they will also receive food.
Location: this work camp will be held in Getasan village, Salatiga, Semarang district which is 65 kms away from Semarang city.
Terminal: Semarang airport, railway station and bus terminal.
