SULURSARI PROJECT

Background: Dejavato had focused on the project in this area since 2009. Started in 2014, Dejavato will organize a workcamp in Sulursari Elementary School which located in rural area of Sulursari village,Purwodadi City which is more or less one hour from downtown. The school has 6 grades with around 120 students. As it is located in the remote area so through voluntary service activity, they would like to host foreign volunteers. Because they believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other activities like games and fun English will be of great benefit as their students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. Learning experience from the volunteers is expected to motivate the teacher and students to be involved actively in educational process.
Work: volunteers will have physical work at school that is making doing simple renovation such as painting school building and making garden. Besides that, volunteer will also be involved in other activities like teaching English and playing with the kids.

Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the Javanese particularities. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.
Leisure Time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit the Bleduk Kuwu, a small mud volcano, used by the people in the surroundings to make salt from its water. You will also have a chance to visit Purwodadi City and do some sport activities with the local youths.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in Indonesian host families (basic conditions, sleeping bag and mat needed) where they will also receive food.
Location: This work camp will be held in Sulursari village in the Grobogan Regency, 100 km east of Semarang.
Terminal: Semarang airport, railway station and bus terminal.
