A. Background: Since 2014 we start to spread our project in East Java. Some local volunteers initiated to host volunteers on Ramadhan Month in Hikmatul Hayat Muslim Orpanage inTulungagung, East Java. Study Camp which will emphasize an introduction of moslem culture in Indonesia: Ramadhan and its meaning for Indonesian moslem as well as support Orphanage activity.
B. Project: The Workcamp will be held in Ramadhan Month (Fasting Month for moslem). This work camp offers a cultural experience and study about Ramadhan life in Indonesia including the ramadhan working hours, sleeping and wake up management, way of working, schedules, food and drinks, cookies, etc. More than that, volunteers will have opportunity to share their knowledge with the local students in terms of sharing Ramadhan cookies recipes and helping the students with their school studies such as English, Math, etc.
C. Aims: To introduce moslem culture in Indonesia; to give opportunity to international volunteers an experience of the culture of Islamic celebration in Indonesia; to give opportunity for value added for the local people in practicing Ramadhan in international atmosphere; to promote global understanding and friendship through intercultural learning.
D. Work: Activities 1: Learning reading and writing Arabic, calligraphy, Rebana (Islamic drum). Activities 2: Cooking together for cookies or drinks or special food for lebaran or designing I I W C B o o k Y e a r 2 0 1 5 : S T V & V S T V Page 26 moslem clothes for Lebaran. Activities 3: Making Ramadhan greeting cards and selling it in as charity. 4: Helping school subject study for children, 5: Making informal and interactive class with the children (English, Handicraft, & Small Competition); 6: Fundraising Activity in City Center.
E. Special remarks: be ready for very early breakfast for Ramadhan at 2.30 am, sleepy day time, praying songs during most evenings, so enthusiastic local children and local people, be patient and have big big smiles!!!
