A. Background: Pantura or Northern Coastal line of Java sea main road is the longest and biggest road which connected West Java part (Jakarta) to Eats Java part (Surabaya). As main part of the island, beside java island is too density, Java Island has been main economic development in Indonesia especially North part of Java or Pantura area. Many factories are built, and lots of trees cut down, somehow it creates some destruction to environment. It brings some problem like rob and abrasion. With the new cooperation with local government in Pekalongan, we initiated to plant more mangrove trees in Pekalongan seashore area.
B. Project: Preserving natural diversity and sea shore from the abrasion because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main focus of the camp. This project will also support for global action named World Tanabata Action (initiated by (NICE Japan then was adopted by CCIVS UNESCO). More Info about World Tanabata Action on the link as follow:
C. Aims: To help the efforts of local NGO in Pekalongan to re-plant mangroves, to rise up the awareness of environment to local people, youth, and children and involve them in environmental action. I I W C B o o k Y e a r 2 0 1 5 : S T V & V S T V Page 16
D. Work: Planting mangroves, cleaning beach, discussion about mangroves, socialization about mangrove to some school, and organize a green workshop in local University.
E. Special remarks: hot weather in the area; be ready with sun block and sun burnt. Bring lots of ideas or books about environment education for children and youth.
