1. Summary: Let's organic farming and ecological life through international voluntary service!
2. Background: Organized together with Tohoku Ashitanomori(TA) since 2011 (but first time for the short term
with NICE) , this is the second international workcamp. TA is a NPO runnning organic farming
and agricultural practice. Rokkasho village is known by nuclear fuel processing facility, but TA
set up the mission to set up the eco village only. We aim to farming through workcamp, also
conservation these mountain to save water, and activate the area.
3. Work: We will work in the farm doing activities, organic farming (ex: harvesting, seeding vegetable),
building vinyl greenhouse, making farming place. We will also do cutting brunch, fix the trail in
forest.
4. Accommodation: Guest house of TA office. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. Sleeing bag is
necessary.
5. Study theme: Volunteers will get knowledge of way of ecological life, organic farming and energy resource.
6. Other activities: Joining the Nebuta festivals in Aomori, communicating local people and farmers. Sightseeing,
short trip (hot springs, famous places here).
7. Location: It is located Rokkasho village. On the pacific side of Aomori prefecture. Rokkasho village is
253.01 km2. There are many traditional summer festivals (ex. Nebuta, Neputa etc.) in Aomori.
8. Terminal: Tokyo (7 hours by bullet train or 10 hours by bus, You need to arrive at Narita airport by 16:00 on
Aug. 3rd and can leave there afternoon on Aug. 17)
9. Requirement: Interest in ecological life & organic farming. Adaptability to enjoy a simple lifestyle is
needed!
