Kodomo-mura

1. Summary: Delivering the Outdoor long term camp program to enjoy in the beautiful nature
2. Background: Organized with Kodomo-mura Project since 1998. They have a summer vacation kids program
called ‘Kodomo-mura’ (Kids Village) with 30 kids aged 8-15 years of age. They play, cook and live
in outdoor as they learn independence, sensitivity, group cooperation, global understanding
and interest in different cultures. Volunteers need to be prepared to spend 24 hours with the
kids for this period (except for a few days off).
3. Work: We will help out and live together with kids in the Kids Village supporting activities and sharing
your culture. We will encourage the kid’s independence and creativity by letting them plan the
schedule, so you will need to respect their ideas!
4. Accommodation: Local community school and Tents. Simple self-catering. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by
turns. Sleeing bag is necessary. Share room.
5. Study theme: Getting to know the Kids ourdoor activites management
6. Other activities: Excursions, exchange parties, etc.
7. Location: Small village in the mountains, in the very center of Kyushu Island
8. Terminal: Fukuoka (3 hours by express train. You need to arrive at Fukuoka airport by 11:00 on first day
and can leave there after 18:00 on last day).
9. Requirement: Volunteers need love kids and speak and understand some Japanese. Responsibility, group
cooperativeness and motivation are necessary! Motivation letter is required.
