1. Summary: Helping for summer kids camp. Let's share your culture, smiles, and friendship with children!!
2. Background. Organized together with a local group formed for this project since 2007. Every year, they run a
summer kids camp with local college students for around 30 kids in age from 8 to 15. Children
will play, cook and live in nature in order for them to learn independence, sensitivity, group
cooperation, and to have global understanding and interest in different cultures. Volunteers
need to be prepared to spend 24 hours with the kids for this period (except for a few days off).
3. Work: We will help out and live together with kids, supporting activities and sharing your culture. We
will encourage the kid’s independence and creativity by letting them plan the schedule, so you
will need to respect their ideas!
4. Accommodation: Community center. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. Sleeing bag is necessary.
5. Study theme: Volunteers will get knowledge of good ways of interaction with kids.
6. Other activities: Excursions, exchange parties, etc.
7. Location: Kitakyushu city is located in the northern part of Fukuoka prefecture, famous for beautiful
nature like as calcareous cave.
8. Terminal: The closest International airport is in Fukuoka. From Fukuoka to the meeting point, it takes 3
hours by express train. You need to arrive at Fukuoka airport by 11:00 on Aug. 15 and can leave
there after 15:00 on Aug. 28).
9. Requirement: Volunteers should love kids. Responsibility, group cooperativeness and high motivation are
necessary! Some Japanese language skill and motivation letter is required.
