The small Berber town of Sefrou, just 30km southeast of Fez, is a picturesque
place situated on the edge of the Middle Atlas. It has a small but interesting
medina that was designated a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2013. As such, the
medina walls have been restored and some funduqs are being rebuilt. Sefrou
once hosted one of Morocco’s largest Jewish communities (as many as 8000
people, according to some accounts), and it was here that Moulay Idriss II lived
while overseeing the building of Fez.
Séfrou in Amazigh is Assefrou: As = hiding and efrou = place. So what is the
hiding place. It is crossed by a river, the river Agay, or Assif Do Aggay in
Amazigh, River group or tribe which is the tribe of making Ihinagènes Part of
Ait Youssi. This tribe is the Aboriginal population and owner of the wadi lazone
Agay and Séfrou before the arrival of Jews and Arabs in the first and Sixth
century. There is a waterfall within the city, which is among the many springs
and waterfalls in the province.
The city is known by the Cherry Festival (Heb moussem Lemlouk). Cherries
and Séfrou festival are renowned throughout the Kingdom of Morocco, and has
been since 1920. Several organizations ensure and participate in the
organization of this party at the beginning of June each year. The Cherry
Festival is not only a cultural activity; it is also an opportunity to display and
sell different varieties of cherries grown in the oasis of Séfrou and its
surroundings.

Two Weeks : From 26-7-2015 until 09-8-2015
8- Work in the Project
Environment Work, Cleaning ,Gardening, painting, Murals & Various
Works. The work is 5H / DAY Monday to Friday
Activities: On Saturday and Sunday the volunteers organize
trips and visits to places in the city and surrounding area of
Sefrou and tours in Fez, music and Artistic evenings, and
roundtable discussions.
9- ACCOMMODATION The rooms at School ( Dorms)
Volunteers are taken in Charge, housing and food, every day two
Volunteers will be responsible for the preparation of meals and
Netoyage
10- (participation fee) 50 Euro / Participant
50 Euro will be paid by each volunteer the day of
arrival
