The project will be organized in collaboration with the ministry of social affairs. Its aim is to contribute to the improvement a residence of students with few opportunities Marrakech is also referred to as the “red town”, since most of the houses built in the traditional Moroccan style are painted in different shades of dark red. It’s is the most important of the four former imperial cities of Morocco and especially known for its central square called “Djema el-Fna” that bustles with acrobats, story-tellers, musicians or dubious snake and donkey charmers. Due to its many covered market streets and labyrinthine alleyways, it is a pulsating and vibrant city. In the surrounding area, day trips to the National Park Toubkal or the waterfalls of Ouzoud are possible on the weekends.

The project will be organized in collaboration with the ministry of social affairs. Its aim is to contribute to the improvement a residence of students with few opportunities. Those young people can gather and participate also in various activities. The volunteers have the possibility to get in contact with the local people, take part in the Moroccan customs and way of life. The work will consist in painting the walls of the center and drawing frescos in order to improve the looks and make it more inviting. The general organization and responsibility of the workcamp lies with a camp leader who may as well prepare an animation programme for the participants, including the proposition of spare-time activities in the surrounding area.

accomodation and food
The volunteers will be accommodated in the Center itself , where they usually share bed- and bathrooms. The food will be prepared by volunteers themselves in several smaller groups, while each group is going to organize the preparation of all three meals during one fixed day. In order to have a variety of international meals, volunteers are invited to bring recipes from their home countries

location & leisure
Marrakech is known by its monuments and its big squere JAMAA LAFNA , the volunteers will have the opportunity to visit all of them and organise excursions in the surronding of the town
