Participation Fee: $3000 mexican pesos, it includes food, accommodation and administration costs.
PROJECT DETAILS: San Cristóbal de las Casas has a younger population, the middle of the population is not older than 24 years. The kids and young people are making the life project in a difficult context: the lack of employed, safety, cultural places, Tlaxcala Cultural Project has the objective to reduce the last problem, through that space where the kids and young people has Cultural and Arts activities. That place, is important because the parents can contribute to the cultural training of kids and younger through their participation and support in the different activities organized or encouraged for the project.
WORK: Due to the excellent summer 2013, we want to repeat the experience and will organize the festival: ¡viva the summer 2014!, where we will exhibit the result of the workcamp. The volunteers will involve in ludic and recreational activities as workshops on art, music, languages and reading and writing activities for kids from 6 to 13 years. The objective of these workshops is to encourage the reading, improve and encourage the grammar and writing by the kids, as a way to express and develop the creativity. We hope that the volunteers bring ideas, plays, songs, photos to share and proposal of activities ((music, dancing, handcrafts, painting, language, origami, etc). LOCATION: San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas
ACCOMODATION: The volunteers will stay in a house with basic conditions. Please, bring sleeping bag.
FOOD: Generally, the meals will be cooked by the volunteers.
LANGUAGE: Basic Spanish will be welcome in order to be in touch with native people.
REQUIREMENTS: Good disposal to the team work, dedication, be responsible and enthusiasm to work with children and adolescents. Bring clothes according with the activities. Please bring your own insurance and sleeping bag. In your own volunteer exchange form please write what cultural, arts, handicraft and sport activities you can teach during the camp (look what you wish to teach to this people, something fun, too in order that you transmit your emotions). Please we ask you to bring a presentation in power point of your country with 10 sliders and if possible a typical dress of your country, also you can bring a typical musical instrument and music.
HOW TO ARRIVE: From VIMEX office the volunteers will go to the camp.
