Zacapoaxtla town is located in the East of Mexico, in Puebla State, the home of Popocatepetl, the second highest volcano in Mexico. The town is connected by bus and it’s located very close to big cities such as Mexico City (4 hours), Puebla City (2 hours) or Boca del Rio beach (3.5 hrs).
Volunteers will participate in the organization of the dance festival, visiting the surrounding communities to know the origin, the dress and the meaning of the dances, even learning some steps, visiting cultural tours to discover the local products. We expect the volunteers will be able to share the culture and traditions of their countries to the local students.
Volunteers will be hosted in private’s houses with all facilities at disposal: kitchen, hot water, etc. please bring a sleeping bag. Food will be provided.
There are many possibilities to organize leisure activities around Zacapoaxtla and close to the town (http://www.zacapoaxtla.info/). There are two ancient places known as Cuetzalan, a Prehispanic archaeological site and the archaeological zone “Cantona”. There are many caves around the town, such as “Zapotitlan caves” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kebnw3Bx-F8) “Xochitlán Caves” and you can get some beautiful local crafts.

The biggest closest international airport is in Mexico City, the city of Puebla also has an international airport.
