PROJECT: The “United by Arts” Festival organized at La Piedad City is looking for highly motivated volunteers who would like to inspire people encouraging the participation of local youngsters and inhabits of La Piedad City in artistic expressions with the objective to rescue cultural tradition. This important festival is going to provide a space where children and youth have access to presentations, workshops, concerts, art exhibitions and all kinds of attractions aimed to the strengthening of Culture and Arts. The Festival's main objective is to bring culture to the community without gender nor age distinction, sponsoring high quality artistic events for free and to achieve a positive impact on people's life. The fesitval is carried out for over a whole week where recreational activities, concerts, plays, art exhibitions, workshops for children, youth and adults are presented. 

WORK: volunteers will participate in the organization of the event while being staff members of the Festival, welcoming guests and other artists and sharing about the cultural traditions of their countries, perform something they know or want to share during the festival. Volunteers will also participate in media events in order to design publicity banners and promote the United By Arts Festival. The volunteers will also participate in Workshops designed for children.

PLACE: La Piedad, known as the door north of Michoacan  is located surrounding the shores of the Great or Lerma River , bordered to the north by the municipalities of Degollado and Ayotlan Jalisco ; small producing populations of quarry crafts and textiles. To the north is the city of Santa Ana Pacueco delegation belonging to the city of Penjamo, Guanajuato. To the east it borders the municipality of Numarán known for its tasty bread. To the south it borders the municipalities of Zináparo , Churintzio and Ecuandureo , and west with the municipality of Yurécuaro . La Piedad has many interesting and wonderful attractions among the sites is the main square with a magnificent stone kiosk, its portals, and the Sanctuary of the Lord of La Piedad. The dome of the latter is the largest in America and is among the three largest in the world. Besides the bridge Dug, a masterpiece of engineering of his time, also built in stone in the nineteenth century. At 17 km distance is the "El Salto" waterfall of about 21 meters high and 130 meters wide and is formed in the course of the Lerma River. A similar distance is a reserve known as "Cerro Grande" which has a magnificent forest from the foothills to the top. There are some urban parks like the "Morelos" park, Lazaro Cardenas park, known among piedadenses as "La Placa" or the local zoo. It has all the tourist services. The city is famous for its colorful shawls, woven loom pedals and spliced ​​by hand, but also internationally renowned composer José Alfredo Jiménez, made it more with the song "The Black Dog". Also at about 6 km is the archaeological area of ​​Zaragoza, where the culture flourished Guamares Chichimeca. There you can enjoy their pyramids and ball game. The piedadense nightlife is active and varied, especially on weekends. There are several places where you can dance rhythms and electronic music or band and bars.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES: During the weekend, the volunteers are able to visit some interesting places such as the Archaeological Sites Zaragoza, Plazuelas and more! Volunteers are welcomed to know the Hacienda Tequilera Corralejo (Tequila Ranch at Corralejo). Volunteers can also visit the beautiful Morelia City or go to El Salto Waterfalls.

HOSTING: Volunteers will be hosted in a particular house with all services at disposal: Hot Water, Electricity, Restrooms, Showers, Kitchen,

Fridge, Laundry room, Safety Box and Wi-Fi connection.

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS: Comfortable clothes, working shoes, cap, a raincoat, mosquito's repellent and sunscreen.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR VOLUNTEERS: For all the volunteers accepted in the Vive México Workcamps there are FREE SPANISH courses all year round at the Vive Mexico International Cultural Center at Morelia City, come and take place in a FREE Spanish course one week before your workcamp starts!.

EXTRA FEE: 120 EURO

INCLUDES (only during the project days), Hosting (according to the conditions specified at the project description) 3 meals a day, Local transportation with project purposes, Administration and organization expenses, tools and materials.
DO NOT INCLUDE: Airfare to Mexico, Transportation from international airport to the project place, Leisure activities, Insurances
