Project
Vive Mexico has collaborated since many years with different institutions to promote peace. Understanding and cooperation, the objective of this project is to collaborate to improve the social image of Ciudad Juarez, that throughout the years has suffer from exploitation of media, in cooperation with the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez by realizing this project we wish to reflect the commitment of the community to seek to create opportunities and spaces where these false images of the City are eliminated.
Work
The main task of the volunteers will be to create the "Multicultural World Mural" Volunteers will help to plan the details of the activities to create the Mural, such as: mural design, type of painting, amount of painting, etc. and then will help to create this landmark for the city to send a message to the world!. Volunteers will also be a fundamental actors to create a photographic production of Ciudad Juarez, take photographs around the city and then display them on an intercultural wall.
Skills and Certifications
By participating in this project, you will acquire the global skills of Adaptability, Global Awareness, Strategic Thinking and Collaborative Planning, after the participation in the project volunteers will receive an official letter certifying these skills.
Accommodation
Volunteers will be hosted in a private house with all facilities, kitchen, dining room, sleeping rooms, place to wash clothes and hot water, there are no beds so please bring an air mat and sleeping bag.
Location
Ciudad Juarez is situated at the north part of Chihuahua State, it is a city that has transformed itself to become safe; Juarez has suffered so much and been through so much pain, but the city is reviving: it’s a symbol of what can be done. There is no other place in the world that has managed to turn itself around so quickly. Ciudad Juarez, once plagued by drug gangs and violence, is now safer than many American cities and stood ready to welcome Pope Francis.

You have to be open-minded and ready to adapt to a different culture, enjoy art and be able to use it to transmit a message to the world! You need to be a person that can discover unappreciated cities, destinations, places and people that are normally overlook, discover the fun and beauty they have and to see beyond the “first cover” of the book; please consider that the work is based in arts and discover and transmit the real spirit of the people and things beyond the image created by massive media to sell news.

Leisure time
Camp takes place in a place full of leisure possibilities! Visit a monument of more than 60 m high in the Mexican square, perform extreme sports in the Dunes of Samalayuca, meet the Museum of Cultures, Museum of Revolution and the Museum of Art, discover the pre-Hispanic culture in the Park "El Chamizal" admires the Caves “Name of God” and the famous Copper Canyon in the Sierra Tarahumara and many other places.

Participation fee
Volunteers will have food and hosting provided during the camp, no participation fee required.
SPECIAL NOTES: For volunteers who are interested to learn Spanish, there will be a Spanish course organized before the project starts, it will be organized in the city of Morelia. Cost: 110 Euros. It includes lodging for 7 days at a Youth Hostel in Morelia city, materials and practice activities for 15 hours with an experienced teacher are included. (Meals are not included).
