PROJECT

This project is organized by the University Panamericana Campus of Aguascalientes, and the main objective is to get help to the communities that are in a state of marginalization or vulnerability in the state of Aguascalientes. The volunteer will be helping and participating in the imparting of a summer course for children in the communities of social work projects that the university of Aguascalientes has adopted as an institution. (Cultural, sporting, recreational activities)

WORK

Some of the main activities that the volunteer will be working at the “Guardado” community place in this project are:

- Give sports activities as trainers.

- Give classes or cultural workshops.

- Teach English.

- Prepare activities and games for children in communities.

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

By participating in this project, you will acquire the global skills of Adaptability, Global Awareness, Strategic Thinking and Collaborative Planning, after the participation in the project volunteers will receive an official letter certifying these skills.

ACCOMMODATION

Volunteers will be hosted in a private house that will have all the facilities at their disposal namely, private bathroom, hot water, and internet. Food will be provided.

LOCATION

The city of Aguascalientes in the center of the Mexican Republic, it is one of the most important cities in the Bajio region. Its name comes from the hot springs in the area, which attracted the first settlers, more than twenty thousand years ago.

With a long industrial and commercial trajectory, it has experienced unstoppable growth in recent times, until it became one of the largest and most populated urban centers in the entire center of the country. The metropolitan area of ​​Aguascalientes adjoins several populations that until recently were neighbors. In addition to its tourist attractions, it has a high level of sustainability and quality of life.

LEISURE TIME

The tourist places of Aguascalientes reflect their cultural identity as a producer of guava (a mexican fruit) and railway tradition. This is a state of northern Mexico founded in 1575 as a refuge for those who traveled the “Ruta de la Plata” (Silver Route in English).  Its name, that in English mean hot waters, is due to the important presence of hot springs. Other main attractions apart from walking the historic streets of the city and knowing the gastronomy and culture, are the natural reserves like “Sierra Fria” a great diversity of museums for example “Museo Jose Guadalupe Posada” and many other activities.

PARTICIPATION FEE

There is no participation fee for this project.

SPECIAL NOTES: For volunteers who are interested in learning Spanish, a Spanish course will be organized in the city of Morelia, Michoacán before the start of each project. Total Cost: 120 Euros. It includes accommodation for 7 days at a Youth Hostel in Morelia city, Spanish classes with an experienced teacher for 15 hours, required materials to study and activities to practice Spanish. Only meals are not included. Please contact us at least two weeks before the start of the course for registration.
