Background/Project: There are altogether eight schools & one community based Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers in the Jitpurphedi community. Most of the schools do not have compound walls, and they even don't have child friendly classrooms and enough educational materials.
VIN aims to empower the children of Jitpur VDC (project area) through educational programs and trainings. VIN is supporting schools of Jitpur VDC through the volunteers involved in construction and maintenance, teaching English at schools and sharing their skills. Volunteers' support is always needed to help VIN meet its goal. This project aims to plant flowers and trees around school to make environment friendly area. They will also be involved in wall painting.
Objectives: To paint the wall and fence school compound, To make the ground plain, To make garden around school area, To paint the school wall, To promote friendship, understanding and solidarity among local people and international workcamp volunteers.
Work: School compound painting, Wall painting and decoration, Gardening, Clear the ground.
Location: Jitpur community of Kathmandu District, which is only about 11 km away from main ring road to Balaju, Kathmandu
Accommodation: The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female work campers will share the same living area with separate rooms. There will be 2-4 persons in one room. Workcampers are required to sleep on the simple beds and carry their sleeping bags.
Language: Basic English should be spoken among participants
Fee: The participation fee will be 200 Euros to be paid on your arrivals, covering foods, local transport, accommodation, administration cost, and material for the camps, T-shirt, and VIN certificate of participation. Volunteers are requested to bear their own health and travel insurance. Please keep it in your mind that all personal expenses and free day expenses are excluded.
Meeting point: VIN office, Balaju on the first day at the latest 12.00 midday.

Leisure Activities: Either before or after your workcamp, there exists the option to undertake a short VIN-organized tour to one of Nepals nearby attractions.
