Project: project will take place in L’viv - a major industrial and cultural center in the Western region of Ukraine. L’viv is a very beautiful and cozy European city with unique architecture and lots of nice restaurants and cafes. It is famous for its ancient cathedrals, churches, museums, art galleries, theatres. L’viv was founded in the mid-13th century. The city was located on the crossroads of trade routes that made it the center of trade and commerce and led to its rapid economic development. The medieval urban topography has been preserved virtually intact (in particular, there is evidence of the different ethnic communities who lived there), along with many fine Baroque and later buildings. The territory of central part of L’viv – 120 ha of the property at its centre now listed as a part of the World Heritage, was designated as a National Historical and Architectural Reserve.

Stryiski Park was founded in 1879 and in summer 2009 it celebrated its 130th Birthday. This giant territory (54 ha) was a favorite place of locals for years. Cinema, galleries, restaurants were situated here. Unfortunately, last years were not so successful for the Park – because of bad financing now it is in poor condition. During this summer some renovation works in the park are planned by local authorities.

Work: The volunteers will work on the territory of Stryiski Park and possibly in some other parks located in the central part of the city. Volunteers will clean footpaths and runoff ditches on the sides of the paths, perform landscaping and other activities for improving the park grounds.
